Marcellus Shale gas industry supports fair, uniform policies

There is much debate surrounding House Bill 1950, the Marcellus Shale legislation that is working its way through the General Assembly. HB 1950 is not an industry giveaway, nor is it lax on environmental standards. The legislation increases setbacks from buildings, streams and waterways. It limits drilling in floodplains, protects water supplies, increases bonding requirements and enhances the Department of Environmental Protection’s enforcement powers. Read entire Commentary here.
